The 1972 American biographical drama film about a jazz singer named Billie Holiday. The drama was based on her life. She was arrested for drug charges in 1936 in New York City.  From there her life seemed to go spiraling out of control. Working in domestic jobs in a brothel to pay the bills. Billie was raped in one of those jobs which lead her to return home to her mothers home in Harlem.  Harlem presented another turning point in her life, so bad, auditioning for a job as showgirl was unsuccessful, however, meeting the piano man became very rewarding for her career at first. Then Billie's career faced very difficult times for her in an era where racial problems pledged the country, her own drug addition and a prison sentence for drug charges continues to turn her life upside down.  Her License to perform was revoked.
